Thanks on a Year

Today is an auspicious date.  This day one year ago Five.Oh.Seven Clothing was birthed in Rochester, MN.  And another business (with a slightly less cult following) officially took to the streets in the hopes of helping clients develop a shared vision of a sustainable future.  Now, one year later, 9.SQUARE is still in business and it has been such a magical ride.

Speaking personally, there were many times that I did not believe that this endeavor would sustain itself.  I have no business background, and barely any time or money to devote to marketing.  But I believed in myself, and perhaps more importantly, my wife believed in me and here we are an entire year later.

But I would be remiss if I didn't express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the clients.  Because without clients, there is no business.  I have been blessed to work with some amazing friends, designers, contractors, and entrepreneurial business owners who have a shared faith in the strength of Rochester, its downtown, and the next generation of leaders who are collectively making change happen.

Thanks you to every person who liked the 9.SQUARE Facebook page, or who told a friend about it.  Thanks to everyone for embracing this Chicago kid who is new to Rochester (by Rochester standards).  Thanks for listening to me rant on this blog or in the newspaper about the issues that I care passionately about.

And finally, the utmost thanks to my wife for pushing me to take this leap and for standing next to me throughout the year.  That love and support is ineffable, so I won't discredit it by trying describe.

Cheers to another year of new surprises, new clients, and new efforts to stimulate change, foster sustainability, and raise the bar for design excellence in Rochester.
